Arsenal star Mesut Ozil confirms that he is “very happy” at the Emirates, but right now is in no hurry to renew his current contract.
The German maestro, who leads the Premier League assist charts with 15 from 16 matches, sees his current contract lasts until June 2018 and is not in the mood to begin talks about contract extension any time soon.
“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” Ozil told when speaking in an interview with Kicker that was published ahead of Monday night’s 2-1 home victory against Manchester City that kept the Arsenal within two points of Premier League toppers Leicester City.
“My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment. I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.
“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”
However, Ozil’s third campaign in the Premier League has been the most productive one, and with Chelsea and Manchester United struggling in league, the German could win the title if his teammates can sustain their current form.
With a staggering £42.5 million, Mesut Özil was signed from Real Madrid to give much anticipated titles, and the stylish German it seems finally ready to live up to the record-breaking transfer fee. Ozil is currently leading the Premier League in chances created and assists; he has been no doubt one of the best play-maker playing in England by far, since end of the August. Ozil has improved personally this year for sure, with the arrival of marksman Alexis Sánchez and the good consistent form of Giroud and Walcott also have been equally necessary for the German’s rise as a world-class play-maker.
However, the German is not happy with the number of goals that he has scored till now. He is not fully satisfied with merely five or seven goals, he wants more and more. We all know ambition is really an addictive nature of human being.
The German maestro has now revealed that he is doing extra shooting practice during training sessions to make his goal tally much heavier. Who knows, he might be pegging for Ballon d’Or!
