Barcelona Face Fight With Three Clubs To Sign Key Defender

Barcelona are set to face a lot of competition in their attempts to sign their former academy prodigy Gerard Deulofeu from Everton this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Catalan club are keen to strengthen the right back position and are currently looking at a vast number of options with the likes of Hector Bellerin and Gerard Deulofeu considered as favourites to move to Camp Nou in summer.

The 23-year old has been in incredible form and have rejuvenated his career in his loan move to Italian giants AC Milan. His ability to play as a right wing-back as well as winger makes his the right option from the Spanish giants and the fact that he came from La Masia will make it easier for the player to get settled faster than the outsiders.

But Spanish media outlet Don Balon reveals that Barcelona are set to face huge competition from three other clubs sign Deulofeu this summer.

Barca have reportedly pulled off from signing Hector Bellerin as he still has six years left on his contract with Arsenal and it will only take a record fee to lure the London club into a potential deal. This is put Deulofeu as a realistic target for Blaugrana this summer.

It is hugely believed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the Spanish winger and is currently looking to take him to Old Trafford in summer.

The report also suggests that Everton are keen to take him back to Goodison park in the summer after his impressive loan spell with Milan this season. It is widely believed that manager Ronald Koeman is willing to provide the Spaniard with another chance to sort his career at Everton next season.

Meanwhile, Italian giants AC Milan are also ready to sign him on a permanent deal after his loan spell with them. The club hierarchy are happy with the winger and are keen to extend his stay at San Siro. However, despite increased competition, Barcelona are still the front runners to sign the 23-year old in summer.
