Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund, the Der Klassiker, did not disappoint by any means as the game was a thriller and Bayern Munich showed Borussia Dortmund that they are the ultimate leaders of the Bundesliga. Bayern travelled to Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday and beat the second-placed, Borussia Dortmund by 1-0.

Joshua Kimmich scored the only goal in the game as he chipped past Roman Burki in a beautiful manner and became the game-changer for Bayern. Bayern are now seven points clear from Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga points table and it seems as if Bayern could be well on their way to win their 8th consecutive title.

Dortmund, on the other hand, lost another close chance of giving a shot at the Bundesliga title this season and with the loss against Bayern, the title seems all but gone for Borussia Dortmund.

Both Bayern Munich And Borussia Dortmund Attacked In Patches

Borussia Dortmund began the game in a solid fashion as they had two shots on goal in the first four minutes. The first opportunity for Borussia Dortmund came when Erling Haaland, their man in form, shot at goal in the first 30 seconds on a counter-attack only to see the ball being cleared off the line by David Alaba.

Borussia Dortmund dominated the p[lay in the first 15 minutes but Bayern Munich bounced back thereafter and applied constant pressure on the hosts. The tide again swung in the favour of Dortmund after 25 minutes of play as they unleashed a couple of good counter-attacks.

Bayern finally got the much-awaited breakthrough just on the brink of half-time when Joshua Kimmich caught Roman Burki off the line and chipped the ball beautifully past him in the 43rd minute of the game. Both the teams headed into the tunnel at half-time with Bayern having a 1-0 lead.

Bayern Munich Began The Second Half From Where They Left

Bayern were pretty aggressive in their approach as soon as they walked back after the first half and fired a couple of shots on Dortmund’s goal only to be denied by Roman Burki both the time. Dortmund put the pressure back on Bayern after the first 10 minutes as Erling Haaland fired a shot on goal only to be deflected for a corner.

The game got a bit physical as it moved towards its end. Players from both the sides came in with hard tackles and were handed bookings for the same. Dortmund’s star striker, Erling Haaland was substituted in the 71st minute as he limped off the field.

Raphael Guerreiro shot directly into Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer’s arms in the 74th minute when Borussia Dortmund earned a free-kick just on the edge of the penalty box. Robert Lewandowski was denied by the woodwork in the 82nd minute as he couldn’t score against his former club.
