Bayern Munich vs Juventus: predicted line-ups

The biggest competition in the world of club football, the Champions League always throws out intriguing fixtures between top class sides from different countries. And it can’t get any bigger than a clash between the German and the Italian Champions in the Round of 16. Bayern Munich take on Juventus in the 2nd leg of the Round of 16 tie that ended 2-2 in the first leg in Turin in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Bayern Munich:

The home side are without the services of defenders Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber who are out with abductor and ankle problems respectively. However, Guardiola can call upon the likes of Franck Ribery who is now fit to start after a lengthy injury lay-off.

Here is the predicted line-up for Bayern Munich against Juventus:

Goal Keeper:

Manuel Neuer:

The undisputed number 1 at Bayern, Neuer will start between the posts for the home side on Wednesday.

Defense:

Phillip Lahm:

The veteran will start in the right back position and will have to provide a calming effect on his team against Juventus.

Joshua Kimmich:

Took no time to settle into the back four at Bayern and will have a tough job at hand in this Champions League encounter.

David Alaba:

Covering for injuries, Alaba has been superb at the center of the defense and will once again start the game as a centre back.

Juan Bernat:

Bernat has been influential in the last few games for Bayern and will have to put in a good performance against Juventus.

Mid-field:

Xabi Alonso:

The mid-fielder will have to use all his experience and help his side into the next round with a victory in this tricky fixture.

Arjen Robben:

The pace and width of Bayern’s attack, Robben will have loads of work to do on Wednesday night against Juventus.

Thomas Muller:

A free flowing attacking player who loves to score goals will have an important role in Guardiola’s plans for this game.

Arturo Vidal:

Showed his instincts in attack in the first leg and has to be careful defensively to stop Juve on the counter.

Douglas Costa:

Another pacey winger who will see plenty of the ball against Juventus and will have to be productive if they are to avoid a sacre.

Robert Lewandowski:

The highest goal scorer for Bayern, Lewandowski will once again have to show his caliber when he faces the Serie A outfit this mid-week.

Juventus:

Allegri has loads of problems going into this game against Bayern. Marchisio and Chielleni are already ruled out of this game while star striker Paulo Dybala is also out with an injury. Mario Mandzikic will go through a late scan to prove his fitness leaving Morata as the only option to lead the side.

The Italian legend will have his work cut out and will have to be at his best if his team are to have any chance to go through to the next round.

Lichsteiner has been a wall at the back for Juventus and will have to use all his experience to keep out the free flowing Bayern side.

Andrea Barzagli:

Another player who has been solid in defense, Brazagli will play in the center of the defense for Allegri this mid-week.

Lenardo Bonucci:

Bonucci was excellent in the first leg and will have to put in a similar performance to reduce the threat from the Bayern front line.

Patrice Evra:

Had a good season so far for the Italian side and will have to be at his best to help his team at the Allianz Arena.

Mid-field

Paul Pogba:

The most exciting player in the Juventus squad for this game, Pogba will have a huge responsibility in this game especially in the absence of Dybala.

Sami Khedira:

The German international knows the ground pretty well and should be confident in the mid-field for the Italian side.

Stefano Sturaro:

Sturaro has the ability to produce moments of brilliance and he has to up his game against the German giants this Wednesday.

Juan Caudrado:

Failed to have any impact from the bench in the first leg but will start this game because of injuries and will hope to prove himself in the biggest stage.

Attack:

Alvaro Morata:

Morata has been a silent assassin for Juventus this season. He scored important goals for the club and will hope to get his name on the score sheet against Bayern Munich.

Mario Mandzukic:

Has the ability to score and create goals and will have to use his experience at the Allianz Arena to help his side pull one over his former side.
