Bayern Munich's Xabi Alonso Officially Announces Retirement 1

Bayen Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso have decided to retire from the game at the end of the season. Having known as one of the greatest midfielders in the game, Xabi Alonso have had successful spells at Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The 35-year old is still at the peak of his powers and have been a regular starter in the star-studded Bayern Munich team as Ancelotti often go his senior pro to resolve midfield problems.

Xabi Alonso has won it all in the game of football as he has won Champions League titles with Liverpool and Real Madrid and have also won World Cup and Euro championships with Spain. He has also managed league titles with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid and also have countless other trophies in his illustrious career.

The midfield maestro has revealed his decision to FC Bayern TV as he believes to quit when he is feeling good.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I believe it’s the right time. I always thought it would be better to quit sooner rather than later. I still feel good, but I believe this is the right moment,” the Spaniard told FC Bayern.tv live.

“I wanted to end my career still at the highest level, and Bayern is the highest level. I’m incredibly proud and happy to play for FC Bayern and to be a part of this family.”

Xabi Alonso would be the second Bayern player who will be retiring at the end of the ongoing season after Philipp Lahm and the German giants will have a huge job to fill in the big shoes next season. FC Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has praised the Spaniard for his illustrious career.

“FC Bayern would like to thank a great player and person for representing FC Bayern to such a high standard both on and off the pitch. Xabi Alonso is one of the greats of world football.

“He has won everything there is to win during his career. He’s a thoroughly remarkable person, and a gentleman of the game,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented.

The midfielder along with legendary Philipp Lahm will look to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich this season as he will create history by becoming the first player ever to win the iconic trophy with three different clubs.
