Biggest Surprise: Barcelona Considering Chelsea Raid To Hijack Victor Moses 1

Since introducing his favoured 3-5-2 formation, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side have been in irresistible form.

The Blues have won six straight Premier League fixtures by a combined 17-0 scoreline and have moved to the summit of England’s top division as a result.

However, as is often the case, their improved form has meant some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been keeping a closer eye on some of their in-form players. The latest club to have had staff in the crowd at Stamford Bridge recently? Barcelona.

Virtually every member of Chelsea’s first-team squad has been in great form during their recent winning streak. As a result, there are no shortage of players that have boosted their transfer value over the past month or so.

However, whilst the likes of Diego Costa, David Luiz and Eden Hazard have returned to top form, the man who has caught the attention of Barcelona has been arguably the biggest beneficiary of Conte’s new look formation.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona chiefs have been “intensively” keeping tabs on Victor Moses as he has flourished at right wing-back in Chelsea’s 3-5-2 system.

The idea of the Nigeria wide man being on the transfer wishlist of arguably the biggest club in the world would have seemed ridiculous just a few months ago.

However, after having much of the Jose Mourinho era in exile, Moses has been one of Chelsea’s most dynamic playmakers during the 2015/16 season.

And it is the 25-year-old’s seamless switch to a more defensive role which seems to have caught Barca’s eye as they consider defensive reinforcements to their star-studded squad.

With Aleix Vidal out of favour and Sergi Roberto the current starting right-back, a new signing has been made a priority.

Sport claim:

“Barcelona like him because of his attacking ways but also defensive strength. Barcelona always look at players who have depth to their game and have been surprised by this player and for weeks have been following him intensively.”

Moreover, scouts from the La Liga powerhouse have already watched Moses live on three occasions and seems to have impressed them with his performances.

If Barcelona are serious about signing the former Wigan Athletic, Liverpool and Stoke City winger, the question then becomes whether Conte would be willing to sell him?

Addressing the speculation in his Friday press conference, the Chelsea manager did his best to avoid the question altogether:
