This has seen the striker linked with an exit in the summer and Arsenal, are one of the few teams who are ready to move for him.

Benzema was a transfer target for the Gunners in the summer transfer window, along with a few other names on the list and it is now understood that Wenger might not yet be able to lure him out.

Putting to bed all rumors linking him with an exit, Karim Benzema, is now set to pen a new deal at the Spanish capital to secure his long term future.

Arsenal were reportedly preparing a £50m bid for him in the summer but they were dealt a huge blow this week after it is revealed that Benzema will extend his contract with the club for a long time.

The report suggests that Real Madrid are offering Benzema a bumper deal of £7.7m, which roughly sums up to £147,000 a week on his new deal.

It is a considerable increase on the wages on his previous contract that ran till 2019 and it is now understood that Wenger will not be able to lure him out this summer.
