Having broken into the first team under Guus Hiddink in the previous season, Rahman was expected to play a role in the first team this season but Antonio Conte decided that he is surplus to requirements and sent him out on loan to Bundesliga outfit Schalke at the start of the season.

He already has 21 appearances in all competitions for the German outfit and is integral to their plans but his progress was dealt a huge blow recently.

Playing for the Ghana national team, Rahman has been influential in his side’s progress into the next round in GABON but he recently picked up a nasty injury that might have ended his season.

Playing Uganda at the weekend, Rahman was stretchered off after picking up an injury in the 1-0 victory on the night.

He was immediately take in a hospital and tests revealed that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He will require surgery to repair the damage and reports suggest that he will be out for a minimum of 6 weeks.

It will come as a huge blow for the youngster who was starting to make himself a name at the club.

He is already back in London, with Chelsea sweating on his injury and it is no understood that he might not be back in action this season.

The Ghanaian international will hope that he can get back to full fitness quickly and will hope to resume his progress into the European star.
