Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony is out of action with a leg injury. He will miss City’s Premier League game week 4 clash against Watford on Saturday, 29th August.
The Ivory Coast international posted an image on Instagram with a crutch. The image is given below:
When Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was asked about Bony’s injury, he said: “Bony has a cut on his leg and will not play tomorrow, but I think he will be back after international break.
“Unfortunately Bony had yesterday a cut in his leg of six to seven centimetres so he’s not able to play tomorrow. I have no information.”
Bony is the only recognised senior back-up to Aguero, but Pellegrini added that he was not in the market for another striker.
“We have Kun (Aguero), Bony and Patrick Roberts so we are not looking.”
Manchester City have sent two of their star strikers on loan this season. Edin Dzeko joined AS Roma on loan while Stefan Jovetic joined Inter Milan. They bought Patrick Roberts this season. Also, the Cityzens sold Alvaro Negredo to Valencia CF.
The city can also field Raheem Sterling if needed who had previously played in that role at Liverpool last season. Sterling was bough this season for record transfer fee of 49 million pounds.
Regarding Sterling’s role Pellegrini said: “For a young player to play with big players as we have at Manchester City it is very important to prove what he can do.
“The most important thing is not the price but the performance over the next few years. You see all the prices of different players are always very high.
‘We are sure when we got him it’s because he is a very good player and he makes a difference in every game.”
