Jose Mourinho’s latest adventure in the Premier League is not really going according to his plans as his Manchester United side are yet to break into the top-4 of the points table after the first couple of rounds at the start of the season.
The manager will however, be relatively happy with the way his team is performing in recent times and he will be particularly pleased with the way his summer signings have settled into his team at the Old Trafford.
The likes of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba have already become integral parts of the squad at the club but one player who has had an immediate impact on the squad is Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Having joined the Old Trafford outfit from PSG on a free in the summer, Zlatan, has been in sublime form this season and is the highest goal scorer for Manchester United in all competitions.
He is the first choice striker for Mourinho this season and his returns in his debut season in the Premier League have impressed the Portuguese manager.
And reports earlier in the month revealed that Manchester United were ready to offer him a contract extension to keep him at the club for the long term.
However, the Premier League outfit are now set to fight for his signature with Italian outfit Napoli.
The 35-year old striker will yet again be a free agent at the end of the season and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has today claimed the he is interested in signing him in the summer.
Zlatan, who has won the Serie A in his time in Milan, is one of the most decorated players in world football and he is currently settled at the Old Trafford.
But Laurentiis hinted that Zlatan is his dream signing.
“My dream signing? I always try to go forward with what I have,” he said in an interview with writer and former mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni for the news outfit Napoli Today.
“One that I would like, though, is that giant who is at Manchester United now. I had him as a dinner guest in Los Angeles and he’s incredibly nice, even though he always seems angry.
“You know the one I’m talking about, right?”
There are very few top class stars up for grabs from Manchester and many are confident that Laurentiis was referring to Zlatan in this interview.
Jose Mourinho is already planning to offer Zlatan a similar contract for another year or two and there are very few reasons why Zlatan will turn them down.
So it is hard to see the Serie A outfit get their hands on the 35-year old in the summer. Do you think Zlatan Ibrahimovic will move to Napoli this summer?
