Blow for Man United As Top Transfer Target To Be Offered Second Contract In Less Than 9 Months 1

The Premier League is easily one of the richest domestic leagues in Europe and has seen some of the best players apply their trade in the competition over the years.

So it does not come as a surprise that the clubs around the country have some quality players at their disposal every season. However, like every season, one or more star players playing at smaller clubs will be wanted by the heavyweights, removing the balance in the league and Manchester United are ready to do just that in January.

Jose Mourinho, who is evidently unhappy with the options he has at the club, is ready to splash the cash in January and though there are many transfer targets, one player who might not make a move is West Ham United star Dimitri Payet.

Manchester United v West Ham United - Premier League

The French international was the best summer signing of the previous season and helped the Hammers to a European spot last season.

Though he has been consistent, West Ham have been mediocre this season and are languishing at the bottom of the table. They are also threatened by relegation if they cannot get some consistent results and it might be time for the French attacker to shift clubs in January.

His quality was evident for all in the previous domestic season and also in the EURO16 in his home country and there will be no shortage of clubs who will be ready to pounce on him.

Manchester United are one of the many clubs interested in his signature alongside Real Madrid but reports today suggest that Mourinho may fail to get his hands on his target even in January.

According to the reports today, West Ham are ready to offer Dimitri Payet a new contract extension to try and keep him at the club for years to come and fend off interests from Manchester United.

Payet signed a contract extension with the club in March this year putting pen to paper on a contract that sees him earn £125,000 at moment. However, Slaven Bilic is convinced that losing him could be disastrous and is ready to offer him yet another contract rise in days to come.

Dimitri Payet Receives the October Goal of the Month Award

It is revealed that the 29-year has been told that he will get a lucrative pay rise on his already ludicrous contract if he continues to score goals, which will make him the highest paid player for the Hammers ever in their history.

Jose Mourinho will surely try to lure him in January and if West Ham want Payet to stay, they have to act quickly and convince him that the Olympic Stadium is the best place for his football.

Do you think Payet will sign a new contract with West Ham?
