Blow For Real Madrid As Chelsea’s First Team Star Opens Up About Potential Move To Spain This Summer

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are currently at the top of the Premier League table, 10 points off Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd place.

Their victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday has seen them set up a crunch tie against the Spurs in the semi-final of the competition as the Italian manager eyes dual success in his first season at the Stamford Bridge.

The squad at the club is one of the strongest in the league but it needs some fixing in the summer if Chelsea are to compete for the grand European trophy.

This has seen the manager search for some star players to add to the squad in the summer.

However, Conte is also keen to keep the core of the squad at the club come the start of the next season but a couple of players have been linked with an exit recently.

The likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard, two of the most influential players in the squad have been linked with an exit in the summer but one player who has now reassured the Chelsea fans of his future in at the English capital is shot-stopper, Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian moved to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid a couple of years ago and has established himself as the first choice at the Stamford Bridge, even under the new manager Conte.

He is now one of the most consistent players in Europe and with 13 clean sheets in the league, the is the best goalkeeper by a mile in England.

He is still 24, and has a bright future ahead of him and this has seen Spanish giants Real Madrid scout for him for a move in the summer.

Zinedine Zidane is not convinced that Keylor Navas can be the first choice at the club next season and has been looking at some of the biggest names in world football.

Manchester United’s David de Gea has also been on their radar but Courtois was one name on the list for the manager.

But they can now strike his name off as the Belgian ran down any rumors of his exit from the club at the end of the season.

Speaking to the media after the victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup, Courtois revealed that he is currently happy and settled at the Stamford Bridge and that though a move back to Madrid is attractive, that he has no plans to swap shirts any time soon.

The Belgian told Onda Cero (via OkDiario): “I’m enjoying Chelsea’s success at the moment and I’m focusing on that.

“I’ve been speaking English since I was ten. I’m liking life here very much, and I’m focused on finishing the Premier League season and winning it,” he added.

Here is the full interview:

Do you think Courtois will leave Chelsea for Madrid in the summer?
