Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic has reiterated his desire to stay with Nerazzurri, as he ruled out out the move to Liverpool. The player feels that they is no reason to move away from the Italian club as he sees the club on par with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The player has been heavily linked with the Reds in the recent months and reports from Germany has also claimed that Inter are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential transfer but the player insited that he is happy to stay.

“I want to remain here. I won’t move. It’s what I wanted: my extension until 2019 shows that,” he stated while speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Real Madrid and Barcelona? Last year it would have been a huge weight to start over again somewhere else. Also because I always fixated on one thing: to show that I deserve Inter. I want to win with this shirt. Inter are like Real or Barcelona.

“What if Liverpool offer €30 million a month from now? What do I know: you have to ask the club. But the club have never told me they want to sell me. I know that I must play, even with [Walter[ Mazzarri I only played the end of matches. I don’t know why. But I repeat: now I know there is no point in getting angry, I must only work.”

““Anyways, I have never thought about leaving and have never told the club I want to leave.”

The youngster was also asked about his preferred position, admitting he would like to play as a deep-lying playmaker like former Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo and fellow countryman Luka Modric.

“Yes. Like Pirlo, who is a legend. But also like [Luka] Modric, another of my idols. I like to play there, in the heart of the action and play with the ball going through my feet often.”

Sterling’s big money move to Manchester City has reignited Reds interest in the Croatian prodigy as they are willing to meet his release clause who has contract with Inter till 2019.

He said, “Sterling and I have two different roles. Whether there have been offers from the Reds is not for me to say but eventually my agent will. Having said that, I repeat: I want to stay here.”

The player also wished new team mate Kondogbia a huge success in Serie A but also insisted that Juventus are quality apart in the league despite losing Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez.

“Kondogbia is powerful, protects ball extremely well, and has the physical and technical qualities. He is a nice player who will make a difference,” the Croatian added.

“Juve are still far away because they are a close-knit group who have been together for years. It’s true that they lost Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez but have added other important players.”
