Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are slowly climbing up the points table and though they are nowhere close to the title yet, the manager will be relatively pleased with his team’s performance in recent games.

Mourinho spent an insane amount of money last summer to build on the squad but he is still not convinced with the options at his disposal and has been looking to add a few more players to his squad to keep them at their best.

He missed out on his transfer targets in January but the manager is already planning for life after the season and has started scouting for potential transfer targets in January.

And the latest name that is doing the rounds is Real Madrid sensation Marco Asensio.

Having been pushed into the senior squad under Zinedine Zidane just this season, the 21-year old is fast turning into the next best thing in world football.

His performances at the Spanish capital this season have been of the highest order and reports in January suggested that Jose Mourinho is interested in getting him to the Old Trafford at the end of the current season.

Capable of playing on either flank or through the middle, Asensio, is gaining some much-needed knowledge from some of the best players in the business and is expected to grow on to become a top class played for his country.

However, he is yet to play a game away from Spain and though he is a part of the Champions League squad for Real this season, he does not have enough exposure to play at the highest level away from the La Liga.

But Mourinho is determined to get his man and might make a move for him in the summer with Real ready to let him go for big money.

A report today from Daily Star claims that Zinedine Zidane is happy to let the youngster go but is demanding fees in excess of £40m for his signature.

Though it is not a very big price in the current transfer market, it is a price that can put loads of pressure on the youngster, who will make a debut in England, if he makes the shift.

With Isco, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez fighting for one place along with Asensio, it is understood that the youngster is ready for a move and that Mourinho is hoping to lure him to England with promise of some regular playing time.

The report suggests that Jose Mourinho should fend off interests from around 20 top flight clubs in the summer for his signature but the club’s stature might be enough to lure him to the Old Trafford.
