But Liverpool’ attempt to land Bellingham this summer has been foiled by Dortmund as revealed by Romano in his latest podcast.

Romano confirms Liverpool held initial talks for Bellingham

Jude Bellingham signed for Dortmund in 2020 after massively impressing Championship side Birmingham City. At 17, Bellingham had already played 44 games in all competitions for Birmingham in the 2019/20 season scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.

Talking about the Liverpool’s approach for Bellingham Romano said, “Liverpool started the conversation a few weeks ago with Borussia Dortmund with an approach for Jude Bellingham.

“Dortmund said he is ‘untouchable’ this summer, but Liverpool is thinking of this player, and Jurgen Klopp is a big fan.”

While Bellingham would almost certainly remain at Dortmund for next season, Liverpool are determined to comeback for him. Jurgen Klopp, who is a huge fan of the teenager direly wants him to bolster his ageing midfield.

The Reds boss has Thiago, Jordan Henderson, James Milner all in their 30s, with Fabinho on 29. Bellingham would turn 20 next year and could be the future of Liverpool’s midfield for a long time.

The midfielder enjoyed another fruitful campaign with Dortmund last season with 14 assists and 6 goals in 44 games last season.

The midfielder featured in 32 of Dortmund’s 34 Bundesliga fixtures racking up 1.6 tackles, 1.3 dribbles, 1.4 shots, 3 shot-creating actions and 1.2 chances created per game.

Jurgen Klopp has extended his Liverpool contract till June 2026, and would certainly poach for Bellingham next year. The England international could very well fix Klopp’s midfield issues in the last three years of his Liverpool stay.
