Chelsea head to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to face an in-form Bournemouth side in the Premier League, looking to snap a six-game losing streak. While the Blues seek their first win in any competition since March 11, the Cherries aim to win three consecutive top-flight games for the first time this season.

Gary O’Neil’s men have turned their fortunes around in impressive fashion, and they know that one more win will almost certainly secure their place in the Premier League for next season, and they can be confident of claiming a positive result on Saturday given that they have accumulated seven points from their last four league meetings with Chelsea.

Chelsea’s decision to remove Graham Potter and replace him with caretaker manager Frank Lampard has yet to bear fruit, with the West Londoners losing all six games and scoring just two goals since the 44-year-old took over in early April. The Blues have now lost 14 of their 33 Premier League games this season, leaving them in 12th place in the table.

And they may be forced to start looking over their shoulders at the potential of an unfathomable relegation battle if their current slump continues. A defeat on Saturday would not only mathematically end Chelsea’s chances of qualifying for Europe, but it would also set a new unwelcome club record for the most consecutive losses in all competitions, matching two previous runs endured between November and December of 1952, and December 1960 and January 1961.
