Bournemouth vs Liverpool Preview: Team News, Predicted Lineups, Key Stats, Betting Odds, Prediction

Second-placed Liverpool will look to keep the pressure on table-toppers Chelsea when they travel to take on Bournemouth.  The Reds have been in phenomenal form this season and will expect to continue their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions. But they will be without one of their key players, Philippe Coutinho for the clash which might gives the Cherries some breathing space. However, the 2-0 victory over Leeds earlier this week will give Jurgen Klopp the confidence that his team can cope up without the Brazil international. The Merseyside outfit also registered a hard-fought 2-0 win over Sunderland in their last league game, a strong indication that they have learnt how to grind out results against defensive teams.

On the other hand, Eddie Howe’s men have struggled to do well in recent weeks. They have lost three of their last four games including the 3-1 thrashing received at the hands of Arsenal in their last game.  And so there is absolutely no denying the fact that it will take a herculean task from the home team to stop Liverpool’s juggernaut.

Team news:

Bournemouth:

The Cherries look set to miss the services of their star midfielder Andrew Surman due to a hamstring issue. Artur Boruc and Charlie Daniels have not been declared fit yet and will be assessed before the match. Jack Wilshere, who missed the game against Arsenal due to terms of his loan agreement, is set to bolster the midfield.

Predicted lineup:

Adam Federici (GK), Brad Smith, Nathan Ake, Steve Cook, Simon Francis, Harry Arter, Dan Gosling, Adam Smith, Jack Wilshere,Junior Stanislas, Callum Wilson.

Liverpool:

The Reds are set to receive a massive injury boost as their in-form midfielder Adam Lallana is expected to play the game. Daniel Sturridge is doubtful for the clash as he has still not recovered fully from a calf injury which means Divock Origi, who has scored in the last two games, might start.

Roberto Firmino, who was suffering from a calf injury, returned to training but his participation in the game has not been confirmed yet.

Predicted lineup:

Loris Karius (GK), Nathaniel Clyne, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Divock Origi.

Stats:

  • Liverpool have never lost to the home team in nine meetings in all competitions, dating back to 1927, winning seven and drawing two in the process.
  • Bournemouth have lost only one match in their last five home league games, winning three and drawing one.
  • The Cherries have scored only 5 goals against the Reds in nine games.
  • Eddie Howe’s men have hit the woodwork 10 times this season, more than any other Premier League side.
  • Jurgen Klopp’s men have scored 13 goals from set-pieces this season, more than any other team.

Betting Odds:

Bournemouth win: 7/2

Draw: 3/1

Liverpool win: 8/11

Prediction:

Bournemouth 1-2 Liverpool
