According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Arsenal are set to rival the likes of Juventus, Manchester United and Chelsea to sign Paris Saint Germain’s midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
The French midfielder has been a key figure in PSG’s proceedings since his move to Parc des Princes back in 2011 and has evolved as one of the best midfielders in France.
Despite new coach Unai Emery’s willingness to offer a key role to Matuidi, the 29-year old is keen to move away from French giants as he seek new challenge for the upcoming season.
However, Italian giants were the strongest rival in signing Matuidi as Allegri is keen to sign the French international as a cover to Marchisio who is set to miss the rest of the year due to an injury.
Arsenal who have been rather quiet in the transfer window have added Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and Wenger is keen to add another influential midfielder to his roster going into the new season.
PSG coach Emery has admitted the player is set to leave despite him wanting Matuidi to stay. PSG are also looking for options to replace the French international in an already inflated market.
