Henry could replace Wenger

Former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has backed Thierry Henry to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal as he feels the player has a good relationship with the club.

The Gunners are looking for a potential replacement for Arsene Wenger this season as the 66-year old is into his last year of his contract and is expected to leave the club next summer.

A host of elite manager names are being considered across Europe to replace Wenger as Diego Simeone and Thomas Tuchel are tipped to be favorites to replace the Frenchman.

However, Robert Pires who has recently joined the coaching staff at Arsenal has backed his fellow teammate Theirry Henry to become the manager at the Emirates. The duo has been one of the best pairs in the history of Premier League as they have scored an unbelievable 57 goals across all competitions for Arsenal during their invincible 2003/04 season.

Theirry Henry has recently joined as an assistant coach under Roberto Martinez for the Belgium national team and has been earning the praises of his players as he is working with a host of Premier League players which include the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Fellaini to name a few.

The 39-year old Henry is the all-time greatest goal scorer for Arsenal and has complete knowledge of the club as he has the backing of the fans as well. Henry has completed A license coaching qualification while working with Arsenal’s kids before focusing solely on his punditry role at Sky Sports.

When asked, he said: “Of course, why not? Thierry Henry and Arsenal have a good relationship”.

Arsene Wenger has completed 20 years at the club this month and is tipped to leave the club as he is considered an underachiever in the recent years for their lack of trophies domestically coupled with poor performances in Champions League.
