Carl Jenkinson departure unlikely as Crystal Palace deal breaks down, but manager Arsene Wenger insists he can still leave Arsenal.
But the full-back’s departure ‘does not look possible’ currently after failing to agree terms.
The Gunners right-back was in talks over a move to the Eagles but saw the deal go down the pan after failing to agree terms.
Jenkinson was keen on a reunion with Sam Allardyce.
But Palace’s wage structure appears to be causing problems in their attempts to sign players.
“There is no news about him at all,” Wenger said.
“We are still open [to him going] because we have many players in his position but at the moment it doesn’t look possible.”
Crystal Palace and Arsenal agreed the terms of a permanent transfer for the right-back earlier this month but Jenkinson could not agree personal terms for a switch to Selhurst Park.
Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this morning that he was “still open” to Jenkinson leaving on a permanent deal but Allardyce made clear his focus has shifted elsewhere, including to former Barcelona and Juventus defender Martin Caceres, a free agent since being released by the Italian champions in June.
“We have other priorities at the moment [than Jenkinson],” said Allardyce, who completed the signing of Patrick van Aanholt earlier today. “Who knows what might happen, but not for now.
Wenger could also sanction a move for French full-back Mathieu Debuchy for the same reason, given Hector Bellerin’s lockdown on the position and Gabriel’s ability to fill in there.
“It is still possible he [Debuchy] could go,” Wenger added.
“He is completely fit and back in contention.”
The out of favour right back has options in France and offers from the Premier League but is still struggling to prove his fitness.
