Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea are on a high alert as Real Madrid star midfielder James Rodriguez hints he could move away from Santiago Bernabeu in January.
The 25-year old has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Zinedine Zidane as he was more restricted to the bench with limited playing time. For the first time, the player has admitted that he could the club in media as he confirmed he has a number of offers to look onto before making a decision on his future.
“I can’t guarantee that I’ll stay at Real Madrid after the winter window,” he told reporters. I have offers and 7 days to think.”
James is largely speculated to move to Stamford Bridge as earlier reports on Sunday revealed that Chelsea is plotting a massive £75million swoop for the Colombian. He is reportedly looked as a replacement for departing Oscar who will join Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG.
Manchester United have been constantly monitoring the situation of the attacking midfielder and was heavily linked in the summer. With Jose Mourinho facing problems in the attacking midfield, James could provide the pace and creativity in the final third for the Red Devils.
The club will have a massive £62million from the sale of Oscar and manager Conte is keen to lure James Rodriguez to fill the role in the midfield. The midfielder has only managed to rake up 859 minutes of playing time this season for Real Madrid across all the competitions and despite impressing with 9 assists and 2 goals, he has failed to pin down a place in the first team.
Rodriguez has so far made 16 appearances for the club this season but mostly came off the bench as Zidane preferred the likes of Lucas Vazquez, Isco ahead of him. With the player’s career coming to a near halt, James is determined to make a move this winter and could be moving to Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United both showing interest.
