According to Daily Express, Chelsea are preparing a surprise £40million bid for the Contract Rebel Raheem Sterling. Liverpool star has been looking for a move away from the club with Manchester City signaling strong intent of signing the Englishman.

However, despite the efforts of Manchester City, Liverpool have rejected all three bids made by the Citizens. City’s last registered bid for the attacker was £40million.

Seeing the stand-off Chelsea are prepared to make a swoop for the player and the Blues believe to have an edge over City since Sterling has previously mentioned his interest in staying in London.

Who would Mourinho sacrifice for Sterling?

Chelsea are growingly frustrated with the developments of recently arrived Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian was signed for a stunning £26.8million fee, but he has turned out to be a real flop so far.

Mourinho is not looking to play the waiting game with Cuadrado and is ready to sell the player after just 6 months in England. According to Gazzetta dello sports, Juventus have joined Inter Milan in Cuadrado’s chase and will offer the player a route back to Serie A.

Chelsea looking to fulfill the Homegrown players quota

Chelsea are eyeing Sterling not only to replace Cuadrado but they are also looking to fill the quota of homegrown players at the club. Chelsea squad is filled with foreign stars and they want to bring players who are homegrown to fulfill the Premier League quota.

Keeping the same rule in mind, Chelsea are also looking to go after Alex Song who is also deemed as a homegrown player according to Premier League.
