Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea’s pending move to Real Madrid could be completed , after it was revealed that club legend Iker Casillas is closing on a move to Portuguese side FC Porto.
The Old Trafford custodian is in the last year of his contract, and his move to Los Blancos is merely a formality. But United are reluctant to let the former Atletico Madrid man join Rafa Bentiez’s side, with De GEa even returning to first-team training today.
But now Spanish tabloid RTVE has come up with a story that Iker Casillas is being forced out of Real Amdrid, and join FC Porto, which would facilitate De Gea’s move.
Roma and PSG were also being sounded as possible destinations for Casillas, who will exit the club after 25 years if the deal goes through. The Portuguese side were boosted in pursuit of the Spain International after Real agreed to support them financially, paying Casillas’ wages.
United on the other hand are playing hardball with the Spanish capital side for De Gea’s sale, but have lowered the asking price of the 24-year-old.
The Red Devils are also hot on the tracks of Real Madrid vice-captain and centre-half Sergio Ramos, who might be included in De Gea’s switch to Los Blancos.
