According to Guardian, Delph had vowed to stay at Villa Park claiming to be nor persuaded by the chance of joining the two-time Premier League Champions.

Delph had said: “I’m aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.

‘I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.’

After such strong words, a sudden U-turn is hard to fathom by the England International. However, the move comes as a delight for Manuel Pellegrini and City who have been chasing English player due to the player’s quota allotted by Premier League.

Having signed Raheem Sterling for £49million, City have now virtually sealed Delph’s transfer after the player was spotted walking out of the Manchester City clinics after completing his medical.

According to club sources, Delph was due to have his medical on Saturday morning but the player refused to appear, however, a quick turn of events will see him dawn the Sky Blue of Manchester next season.

Transfer fee for Delph’s transfer is expected to be in the region of £8million, which is his release clause value. Delph will become Villa’s second player to leave this week following Benteke’s proposed move to Liverpool.
