Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in Italy.
The 31-year old is currently in his final year of his contract with Gunners and is yet to be offered a new contract by the club. Cazorla has been an important player for Arsene Wenger over the last few years as he is arguably the best technical player in the side.
However, he has been sidelined with an Achilles injury over a month now when he suffered the injury while playing against Ludogorets in their 6-0 victory at Emirates.
According to Calcio Mercato, Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan are on alert of the situation as he could be available for free next summer which would be a bargain considering the quality of the player.
Arsenal have enjoyed a brilliant run of form with Cazorla in the centre of things but they have seen a dip in form as Wenger has openly admitted that the side is lacking the stability in the midfield because of his absence.
The future of the Spaniard is yet to be decided at the club but if the club decides to not offer a new contract for the veteran midfielder, he would be open to pen a pre-contract with any club he desires in January.
Cazorla has also been linked with a move back to Spanish league as Villarreal are ready to sign him. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will offer him a new contract as he is still a vital player but is on the wrong side of the 30s which could also play a role in the club’s final decision.
