Breaking: Liverpool’s First January Signing Now Hours Away, Deal Agreed In Principle 1

Liverpool are on the brink of agreeing on a loan deal with Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles for Pedro Chirivella.

That is according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim the 19-year-old will join the Eredivisie side on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Chirivella, but it is claimed he wants to send the Spaniard out on loan in a bid to further his development.

Chirivella, who missed the start of the season due to a quad injury, has failed to make a single appearance under Klopp this season – but has impressed for the Under-23s.

The Spaniard has made just six appearances in Premier League 2, against Leicester City, Sunderland, Manchester United, Everton, Manchester City and Arsenal.

That he has been included against all the big-hitters of the youth league is an indication of his potential, but despite training regularly with the first team at Melwood, he remains far from the senior squad.

A neat passer with a fine appreciation of space and an invaluable creative bent, Chirivella is visibly lacking in physicality and intensity, and these are qualities Klopp values in midfield.

His last game under the German came away to Swansea City in May, when Klopp hauled him off at half-time, replacing him with the more robust, experienced Lucas Leiva.

The midfielder, who signed from Valencia in 2013, will join Go Ahead Eagles to help them maintain their top-flight status.

Go Ahead Eagles are currently bottom of the Eredivisie and are in need of some much-needed firepower to boost their survival hopes.

Chirivella signed for the Reds from Valencia in 2013 and has made five first-team appearances during his time at Anfield.

Chirivella would become the 11th Liverpool player out on loan this season, following the returns of Adam Bogdan and Jack Dunn, and is unlikely to be the last to leave in January.
