Breaking- Manchester United plot sensational move for key Arsenal target!
Manchester United are interested in Atletico Madrid central defender Jose Gimenez, according to reports.
The 21-year old is one of the best young centre-backs available in entire Europe and Manchester United are monitoring him with a view to bid for the talented defender next summer, Daily Mirror reports.
Gimenez has featured for Atletico Madrid against PSV Eindhoven in the midweek Champions League clash and one of the chief scouts of Manchester United are present in the audience to check the defender.
The Uruguayan international has moved to Atletico Madrid from Uruguayan club Danubio in 2013 and has grown into a great defender under Diego Simeone over the past three years. The 21-year old has played an active role in the defense as he was regularly partnered with Diego Godin.
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to sign one more central defender as he does not see Daley Blind as a long term solution to the Red Devils’ defensive problems.
The Portuguese manager has signed Eric Bailly who has been an instant hit at Old Trafford and is keen to sign Gimenez as the move could strengthen Manchester United’s defense.
Gimenez has made 36 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season and is set to play a key role for the Spanish giants this season as well. Arsenal were credited with an interest in the Uruguayan but could not make the move as Simeone was very keen to keep hold of the talented youngster.
He finished the season on a high for the club and country as he is set to become an exciting defender in the coming years. Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes has key connections with Atletico Madrid’s board which could make the move possible as United has more chances to sign him than any other club in Premier League.
