Confirmed – Manuel Pellegrini will stay at the club revealed by club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has confirmed that manager Manuel Pellegrini will stay at the club despite not winning any trophies last season. Pellegrini has been heavily speculated to leave Manchester City this summer.

With Pep Guardiola confirming that he would stay at Bayern Munich at least one more year, Pellegrini was given a chance for one more season at City says the analysts. The Chilean still has one more year left in his contract and chairman Khaldoon backs the manager to lead the club to success next season.

Khaldoon said, “Every year we look back at the season and conduct our reviews. We discuss the pros, the cons, what has worked, what hasn’t worked, what needs to be improved.

“We’ve done that already this year. I can say Manuel is as disappointed as we are with the results of the past year, he’s very clear in his assessment of what’s worked and what hasn’t worked and what needs to be improved – and I agree with him.

“So let’s leave the last season behind us, focus on next year. Together with Ferran [Soriano] and Txiki [Begiristain] we are working together,” City chairman added.

“Manuel has a very clear view of where he needs to go this summer, what he needs to do, what we need to do as an organisation and we are aligned with him. I’m aligned with him. Sheikh Mansour is supporting us. It’s business as usual.

“This year we have to do a very good job in making sure we do all the preparation and give Manuel the squad he needs to compete next year in every way.”

Manchester City are planning to buy the likes of Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling to strengthen their squad this summer so that they could challenge for Premier League title next season.
