Leading and most trusted German football newspaper SportBild has broken the story of Manchester United submitting an official €30 million bid to sign their long-term defensive target Mats Hummels.
Hummels has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for more than 12-18 months now, but there was never any official bids placed by the Old Trafford club. Van Gaal sees Hummels as the ideal man to be the leader of his defense in coming seasons and guide United back to their glory days.
Mats Hummels is really keen on a move this summer after the German was quoted saying that, his time in Bundesliga is over and a change overseas will do his personal and professional life a world of good.
Hummels looks certain to join Manchester United after the recent fiasco at Dortmund which has seen their long-serving manager Jurgan Klopp announce his plans to quit the club at the end current season. Klopp’s decision to quit Dortmund was the final invitation for United to press ahead for the move.
Manchester United have wasted little time by acting swiftly and placing an official €30 million bid for the German defender as confirmed by SportBild. Dortmund have slapped a €45 million asking-price for Hummels but player’s willingness to leave might provide leverage to United in sealing the deal to bring Mats Hummels to Old Trafford next season.
