Belgian international Christian Benteke has been declared fit to face Chelsea on Saturday. The 24-year-old missed Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie against Bournemouth which the Reds won 1-0, but is now ready to face the defending champions Chelsea.
Speaking to the pre-match press conference Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed the news.
Klopp said: “The injury situation is better than yesterday. Christian trained quite normally with one of our fitness coaches so he is prepared for tomorrow.
“I would say that’s the only thing that’s changed. Kolo [Toure] – it’s not serious but it’s not enough for tomorrow.”
Injuries to Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Kolo Toure, and Jon Flanagan has cast a doubt on the Liverpool medical team with rumors of Klopp being not happy with them, but the German declined any such rumors and instead praised his medical team.
He added: “I think this is one of the departments that works perfectly. Everything is fine. They are working hard, Chris [Morgan] and his team.
“There is no doubt from my side after two and a half weeks. If you look at the kind of injuries we have had, you know it’s nothing to do with the medical department.
“It’s because of hits or other things. It’s normal in football. Nobody wants to wait but we have to wait because recovery and rehab needs time.”
