According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Radja Nainggolan has once again turned down an offer by Chelsea as he is on the verge of signing a new contract with AS Roma.
The club has reportedly have rejected a €40m offer for their star midfielder from Chelsea. The Belgian defender has a contract till 2020 but will sign a new contract which will see a rise in his salary from €3.2m per season to €4m. The new deal will make the midfielder the third highest paid footballer in the club after Dzeko and de Rossi.
Chelsea manager Conte is a huge fan of Nainggolan and have offered €32m with an additional €3m bonuses for the Roma midfielder earlier in June. But the Italian club are not interested in selling him as they have already sold Miralem Pjanic for their direct rivals Juventus.
The Blues have moved on from the setback and went on to sign Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante but with Juventus reportedly keen to sign Nemanja Matic from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have renewed their interested in the Belgian international.
Chelsea are willing to offer the player a €5m-a-year contract but the 28-year old is keen to stay with Roma as his family is well settled in the city and most importantly, the Italian club offers Champions League football which the Blues cannot offer at the moment to lure the player away.
