Barcelona star Luiz Suarez says he is open to a return to club Ajax, should he leave the La Liga side.
The Uruguayan told Dutch publication De Telegraaf via The Mirror, that he would consider a return to The Netherlands in the future.
Suarez stated, “Obviously I would like to return to Ajax someday. It would just be a thank you. It is thanks to that club that made me famous in Europe.”
Suarez spent four years in Amsterdam, a year after his arrival in Holland with FC Groningen.
During that time, the 29-year-old scored 81 goals in 110 appearances for de Godenzonen. His record caught the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs and led to his club record move to Liverpool – at the time – for £22.8m in 2011.
Making the same amount of appearances on Merseyside and scoring just 12 goals less, Suarez formed part of the Reds S-A-S partnership with Daniel Sturridge, where the Uruguayan become one of the most predatory strikers in world football.
In his final season at Anfield, the forward notched 31 goals during the 2013/14 campaign.
His temperament frequently landed him in hot water however and was involved in a racism row with former Manchester United player Patrice Evra and was accused of biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Following the second incident with Georgio Chiellini during the Uruguay’s match with Italy at the World Cup in 2014, Suarez was forced out of the Premier League for Spain, in a £75m move.
With a remarkable record of almost a goal a game for La Blaugrana, the conditions for Luis Suarez’ departure from Barcelona seem some way off for the time being.
After winning last season’s gold shoe for most goals in La Liga, Suárez stated he wanted to finish his career with Barcelona.
For now, the forward is at home in Catalonia, as continues to spearhead the club’s attacking triumvirate with Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi, dubbed ‘MSN’.
He finishes, “All my dreams came true in Barcelona. I hope to be able to stay here the rest of my career but to do that I’ll have to keep playing forever at the highest level.”
