According to the Guardian, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has conceded defeat in pursuing his key transfer targets later this summer due to his side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Liverpool are currently at 5th in the table and with just 4 games to go, they look set to miss on Champions League football next season.

Liverpool have been linked with the likes of PSV star Memphis Depay, Gonzalo and premier strikers like Gonzalo Higuain, Alexander Lazakkate and Radamel Falcao. Rodgers earlier this week hinted on ho whe is looking to sign a striker to help Liverpool’s chances next season.

Despite these names being linked with the Anfield club, it looks highly unlikely that either of these superstars would fancy a move to Liverpool without their involvement in Europe’s elite competition.

Liverpool were dealt another major blow this weekend. when they play a boring 0-0 draw against West Brom and gave up any hopes of Champions League qualification after Manchester United were beaten 3-0 by Everton.

It was not long ago when Brendan Rodgers ridiculed Manchester United’s dismal last season by saying that Red Devils would fail to attract big-name players after their eviction from Champions League.

A year has passed on since and United have signed the likes of Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo while Liverpool look above their shoulders with a danger of missing out on their key transfer targets this summer and a longer exile form the Champions League football.
