Luke Shaw has revealed who are the three quickest players at Manchester United right now.
Although the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic no longer have that burst of pace they once did, United are certainly no slouches when it comes to speed.
Jose Mourinho has plenty of nippy players to call upon when required so when Shaw was asked to reveal who usually sprints away from the rest at training, it was no surprise he had to deliberate over his answer.
In an interview with popular Youtuber Tobiias, the left-back overlooked injured star Eric Bailly, who recorded the highest top speed of a United player during a Premier League game this season, to opt for Mourinho’s various attacking options – and himself.
“I’m up there I think,” Shaw said, in a video you can scroll down to see in full.
“I’d have to say Marcus Rashford is the quickest.
“It’s out of… there’s three left, Antonio [Valencia], Martial, Memphis, I don’t know.
“I think Anthony is more quick with the ball, so when he’s got the ball he’s really quick.
“But I’d have to go with Valencia, and I’m putting myself in there as well.”
Louis van Gaal faced plenty of criticism during his time at Man United for the slow tempo his team often played.
And although Mourinho’s team are actually seven points worse off than his predecessor was at the same stage last season, there can be no doubt the style of football on display has been much quicker.
It has yet to be reflected in results on the pitch but had United been more clinical in taking their chances over the last month, Mourinho and co. would have easily found themselves within touching distance of the top four.
