Manchester City ended the 2022-23 season on a historic note by winning their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. Pep Guardiola’s men beat Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul to win the continental championship.
Rodri’s stunning goal in the 68th minute was more than enough for the Premier League champions to complete a historic treble. Prior to winning the Champions League, Manchester City had also won the Premier League and the FA Cup earlier in the season. They have now become just the second English team after Manchester United’s legendary team of 1999 to win the treble.
The win has also helped Guardiola end his long wait for a Champions League triumph. Guardiola had not managed to win the continental championship since 2011 when he led Barcelona to their second title under himself.

Manchester City’s Scott Carson’s wild journey:
There are many who don’t really believe in destiny or fate but Scott Carson’s incredible journey will perhaps make them change their minds. Professionals around the world would consider themselves lucky if they manage to play at the highest level for around a decade and here is Carson who has won two UEFA Champions League titles as a player with a staggering 18-year gap.

Not many know this but Carson was a part of the Liverpool team that had won the Champions League way back in 2005. During the 2004/05 season, Liverpool had signed Carson to provide competition for Jerzy Dudek for a first-team place. He also played against Juventus during the home leg of the quarter-final.
There’s something about Istanbul for Scott Carson ??

What makes his journey even more incredible is that both of his Champions League wins came in Istanbul and against Italian oppositions. In 2005, Liverpool famously came back from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan. Another piece of trivia that can blow your mind is that his debut for Liverpool and Manchester City came against the same opposition – Newcastle United.
