Arsenal are one the most consistent teams in the Premier League this season as they hardly saw a major slump in their form since the start of the season. However, despite an incredible performance, the Gunners still find themselves at the fourth position in the league with 44 points after 21 games.
The other major sides like Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United saw a huge dip in form for a number of weeks before rallying with wins this season which made the title race much exciting than most of the recent seasons going into the second half of the season.
The Gunners are just eight points adrift off league leaders Chelsea and the gap can be reduced in the coming weeks as Chelsea are going to square off against Liverpool and Arsenal which could be a tough task for the league leaders to take all points from the games.
Arsenal are peaking once again at the right moment despite injury concerns as Wenger seems to find the right balance in the team in January after a forgettable December where they lost to Everton and Manchester City.
Wenger has put the Arsenal back in the title race as they have managed to win three of their last four PL games and won 10 points out of a possible 12. All the four major opponents, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have dropped which makes Arsenal as the only major challengers for overwhelming favourites Chelsea.
Traditionally, Gunners always be at the peak of their powers during the second half of the season and it will only be good signs for the North London club as they have very strong squad despite having lost top players like Theo Walcott, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
One of the major positives for Arsenal in a woeful December was the emergence of Olivier Giroud, who was warming the bench since the start of the season. The Frenchman has hit fine form at the right moment and have been a starter since then.
Wenger would hope that Giroud would continue his good form as it leaves room for the manager to shuffle Alexis Sanchez based on the team’s need. The Chilean would be pivotal to Arsenal’s chances of winning the league as his form has dictated the tempo in their playing style this season.
Sanchez has been in the form of his life and has undoubtedly been the best player in the league so far this season as he managed to score an impressive 14 goals for the club in the Premier League alone.
All in all, Arsenal are pretty much still in the title race as the league is far from done with still 17 rounds left to play. Chelsea will face a stern test at the start of February when they face Liverpool at Anfield followed by Arsenal at home which could decide the side to which the league could be tilting towards.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will need to win as many games as possible to put the pressure on Chelsea which could prove crucial in the upcoming weeks if Chelsea has a little hiccup.
