Just a few days after losing his job at the London franchise, Jose Mourinho has found some kind words said about him by pundits and fans alike. Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti empathized with the Portuguese master mind.
In an interview with goal.com, Ancelloti showed his support to the sacked Mourinho and revealed the major reason for his sacking. He believed that lack of motivation from the players was the major reason for the Special ones departure from the Bridge.
In the interview, he said “That is the most difficult job for a coach because within a group, both one that is doing well and one that is doing badly, there are always problems to resolve.
“When things are going well, there is a risk of relaxation; when things are going badly, obviously there is a loss of confidence.
Chelsea have lost 9 of the 16 games with Mourinho in-charge and were just a point above the relegation zone before he was sacked. The team showed no signs of recovery even in the loss to Leicester and it was the last nail in the coffin for the Special One.
Ancelotti added: “The coach must always keep a good balance in that sense, lifting the confidence levels particularly when things don’t seem to be working.
“It’s a little of this that Mourinho paid for, the fact that the team had not started like last year, when they had a tremendous desire to do well after a bad year.
“This year it was exactly the opposite; he paid for the lack of motivation among the players.”
Chelsea played their last weekend’s game without a manager and did not look a suddenly improved side. The incisiveness up front and the solidarity at the back were still missing but the amount of quality in the squad gave them all there points against Sunderland.
But even as Chelsea were leading at the final whistle, fans inside the Stamford Bridge were far from satisfied. They were angry with players like Costa, Fabregas and Hazard and accused them of not turning up for their previous manager.
Signs and boards inside the stadium showed that the Chelsea fans were not really happy with the sacking. They will be even more gutted if the rumors that Jose Mourinho is close to a move to United turn out to be true and Mourinho is in the opposite dug out when United take on Chelsea at the Old Trafford at the end of the year.
