Eva Carneiro, Chelsea’s former physio might return to the football pitch with Championship club Charlton Athletic willing to take her on board.
At Charlton, Carneiro will be working with first team doctor John Fraser and physio Erol Umut. But her appointment will be effective only after her dispute with her former club is resolved.
Carneiro and Chelsea’s first team doctor Jon Fearn were criticised heavily by Jose Mourinho for their actions in the draw against Swansea at the start of the season. The medical team went on to treat Hazard on the pitch in the later stages of the game temporarily reducing Chelsea to 9 men. Mourinho called them ‘naive and impulsive’ and they were subsequently asked to not travel with the team or sit on the bench during matches. Following this Eva quit in September and refusing a severance pay filed a case in an employment tribunal against her former employers, Chelsea.
In this entire saga of her sacking what outraged Eva most was the FA’s treatment of the issue. Mourinho was released by the FA of all charges concerning him using foul and discriminatory language against Carneiro and in a statement she said “I was at no stage requested by the FA to make a statement,” she said in a statement. I wonder whether this might be the only formal investigation in this country where the evidence of the individuals involved in the incident was not considered relevant. Choosing to ignore some of the evidence will surely influence the outcome of the findings”
So until the issue with Chelsea is resolved Charlton will hold on to that employment letter and Carneiro becomes one another problem to the 99 problems Jose already has!
