Chelsea have been quietly active this window as they have acquired cheaper but renowned signings while offloading the likes of Ramires who have been in the fringes of the squad all along.
The next player to join Chelsea in their quest to find the replacement for their enigmatic leader John Terry comes from across the Atlantic and is known as Matt Miazga. He currently plies his trade for the New York Red Bulls and has been central in their successes so far. The fact that he is only 20 makes him a real contender to succeed in the footsteps of another player in his mould, Kurt Zouma, who is a nailed on starter at the club.
Miazga is 6 feet and 4 inches tall and makes every inch of that presence count as he dominates strikers into submission with his immense strength. Also, he isn’t a slouch when it comes to a chase as he uses his speed to close in and eventually dispossess strikers. The fact that he has impeccable distribution from the back makes him an even sweeter deal. He has been the mainstay at the club as well as the national team for over a season now and with his contract expiring in the coming summer, it is a ripe time for the club to accept any fee for the talented defender.
The player is a self-admitted Chelsea fan and was seen actively live tweeting the Chelsea-Barcelona semi-final back in 2012, which makes him a nailed on fan favourite at the club already and will give him extra impetus to perform for the club that is so close to his heart.
