Chelsea and Arsenal are both vying for the signature of Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior, according to reports.
The 16-year-old has been tipped for a bright future after making a name for himself in his homeland at Flamengo. Vinicius, who has already drawn comparisons with Barcelona star Neymar, is attracting interest from a host of European clubs.
According to The Sun, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona are all interested in the striker and are monitoring his progress. Manchester United and Manchester City are both believed to be keen on securing a move for him too, and the former have already reportedly seen an attempt to secure first option on any potential transfer rejected.
Vinicius is said to have a £26m release clause in his contract with the Brazilian outfit. The youngster has been with Flamengo since the age of 10 and has already worked his way up through the youth ranks.
He made his Under 15s debut three years after joining and could even feature for the first team this year. Vinicius has only recently heightened the interest from other clubs with his displays at the Copinha U20 tournament – Brazil’s annual junior football showcase.
The talented forward has netted four goals and provided five assists in six matches.
Elsewhere, another potential target for United, Tiemoue Bakayoko has, according to Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev, dealt a significant blow to United after the midfielder signed a new deal with the Ligue 1 side.
Jose Mourinho, the United manager, has earmarked Bakayoko as a top summer transfer target, but Vasilyev has said he is staying in France.
“I’ve just extended Fabinho’s contract, and we’re doing the same with [Thomas] Lemar, Bakayoko and [Valere] Germain,” Vasilyev told French television channel Canal+.
