As per the latest reports, Chelsea are lining up a bid for Atletico Madrid star defender Joao Miranda this summer. Chelsea are in the market this summer to find a quality defender who could replace their aged star John Terry next season.
Miranda had joined Atletico Madrid back in 2011 and was an integral part of their La Liga winning team last summer. Miranada is eyed as the long-term replacement for John Terry.
Terry himself has been in good form but Mourinho wants to add a new central defender next season. Terry who is currently 34 will have one more year in his contract at Chelsea and the Blues want a long term replacement for the club legend.
The 30-year old Miranda will be a key addition to Chelsea as the Brazilian will add a lot of quality to Chelsea’s defense. Atletico Madrid want to hold on to the Brazilian but will consider a bid in the region of £20 million.
The Brazilian can also score a lot of goals as he provides aerial threat with set pieces. The Brazilian has made 38 appearences to Atletico Madrid last season despite facing few injuries scoring 3 goals during the season.
Chelsea will face competition from Manchester United for Miranda’s signature as the Red Devils are also targetting miranda to solve their defensive crisis.
