Revealed: Chelsea Dream XI of the Winter Window if they complete all their signings
Chelsea have been facing a painful season where they have been in turmoil and have released the title winning manager, Jose Mourinho, from his position as the manager in hopes of turning the season around. With Hiddink coming in and the squad still not improving much, there is a highly expected raid on the transfer market to be conducted by Chelsea in a desperate attempt to snatch back the league positions and get some wins on the board for the club.
Some mooted transfers include those of Brazilians Pato and Teixeira, both of whom have admitted interest in joining Chelsea and would help Chelsea’s beleaguered attack. With that in mind, here is the Dream Chelsea XI if they manage to acquire the talents they so desperately need:
Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois
No competition here as Courtois is easily the best keeper in the league and probably the only real contender to Neuer for the throne. He slots into the squad easily and wold definitely be a great presence in the back for Chelsea.
Left Back: Cesar Azpilicueta
Again, no change here as Azpi has shown the capability to simply shut down the opponents on his flank and will only get better as he reaches top form over the season.
Centre Back: John Stones
Hotly chased by Chelsea over the summer, the youngster would slot right in and replace the ageing Terry in Chelsea’s squad. With a proficient passing record, he would be important in building attacks from the back.
Centre Back: Kurt Zouma
The perfect partner to Stones would be this beast of a player who has been dominating players in one v one situation all over his Chelsea career.
Right Back: Branislav Ivanovic
With a one-year contract handed out to the veteran, there seems to be no change in Chelsea’s mind about this player’s importance to the squad. It might be misplaced though as he looks as the weakest link in the squad.
Centre Mid: Cesc Fabregas
Fabregas has been in sublime form under Hiddink and will be looking to use his creativity to get Chelsea out of the hole they are currently in.
Centre Mid: John Obi Mikel
Mikel has all but replaced Matic in the squad and has been impressive in shielding the back four as well as the ball at his feet. He will be looking to gain a foothold in the position he has just recently usurped.
Left Winger: Eden Hazard
The player, when in form, is simply unstoppable and Chelsea will be hoping he does regain that purple patch and justify his award he received last season.
Attacking Mid: Alex Teixeira
The Brazilian has been impressive for Shakhtar this season and will be looking for a move the coming window as he looks to further his chances for National Squad selection. He already has more than 20 goals in a midfield position for his current club.
Right Wing: Willian
Chelsea’s player of the year so far, Willian has been single-handedly bailing out Chelsea on multiple occasions this season and will hold an important place with his incredible work rate.
Striker: Alexandre Pato
With the player who had terrorised defences across Europe returning back to the continent with unfinished business, it is an easy transfer for Chelsea to complete, especially with the fees involved. He will slot right into the squad ahead of the crooked Diego Costa.
