Chelsea eye move for Benfica star in January as Conte still not happy with his squad 1

With three wins from the first three games, Antonio Conte has had a dream start to his Premier League campaign but his dealings on deadline day showed that he is far from confident in his squad.

The likes of Marcus Alonso and David Luiz were signed for big money on the last day of the transfer window as the manager took desperate steps to improve his defense going into the next season.

Though the first three victories were far from convincing, Chelsea have been decent in those games but the manager is already eyeing moves for players even after the deadline day.

Recent reports suggested that Conte has his eye on former Juventus man Martin Caceres on a free transfer in the coming days and it is now understood that the manager is already looking at players to add to his squad in January.

Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, who was a target for the Blues in the recently concluded window is now said to be at the top of the transfer wish list for Conte when the transfer window re-opens in January next year.

LINDELOF

According to Football Italia, Chelsea are desperate for his signature but the likes of PSG and Inter Milan are also understood to be keeping track of the defender for a move in January.

It is understood that the 22-year old has a release clause of £25m and though it no clear as to why Chelsea did not meet the valuation in the summer, it is understood that they are all set to meet the valuation early in January.

It will be interesting to see if Conte also gets his hands on Caceres whether Lindelof will have any place at in the squad with the likes of John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta guarding the back four for the club this season.
