Chelsea fans went wild over Wesley Fofana, with one even suggesting that the centre-back be given club legend John Terry’s No. 26 shirt. The Blues held off Jurgen Klopp’s team in their first match following Graham Potter’s sacking which ended scoreless. However, Chelsea had several opportunities to take the lead as well as the three points before the pace of the game settled down.
Meanwhile, a Liverpool team derived of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold in their starting line-up didn’t have much to say on either side of the two halves. While opportunities were far and less for Klopp’s side, the goalless draw and a point meant they slipped to eighth after Aston Villa and Brighton moved above them with wins in their respective games.

Fans laud Fofana’s John Terry-isque display against Liverpool
While the draw didn’t help Chelsea either, who are left to languish in the bottom half of the table, the Blues’ fans found some solace in their summer recruit Wesley Fofana delivering a solid performance. Many even had the flashbacks of their former captain John Terry, regarded as one of the best centre-halves England has had.
However, the moment which made the Chelsea fans put Wesley Fofana and John Terry in the same sentence was the Frenchman’s incredible block-off a Fabinho shot. As Liverpool started to get into the game and put pressure on the home side as the first half came to a close, a late corner was delivered into the Chelsea penalty area.
After a chaotic clearance, Fabinho finally received the ball and controlled it before volleying a shot that appeared to be heading towards the top-corner. But it took an outstanding headed block from the £75m Fofana to ensure that Chelsea headed into halftime with the scoreline intact at 0-0.
And Blues supporters on social media were ecstatic about it, calling for the club to strip-off Kalidou Koulibaly of the famous No.26 shirt which was worn by John Terry, and award it to Fofana. The fans reacted:
WOOOOOW!
What a goal line block by Wesley Fofana! That's one of the best headed blocks I have EVER seen
