Antonio Conte has been a rather busy man this summer transfer window.
His team started their new season with a victory on the first match of the new season, a London derby, thanks to a late strike from Diego Costa.
However, the manager is still on the lookout for additions to his squad as he still tries to get into grips with the English conditions and the style of play in the country.
And the latest player linked with a move to Chelsea is German starlet Jonas Hector.
The 26-year old left-back is a long-term transfer target for Liverpool since the start of the summer transfer window but Jurgen Klopp has not been able to meet his asking price and lure him to Anfield this summer.
This saw the defender sign a contract extension recently with Bundesliga outfit FC Koln which will see him play for the club till 2021.
However, it is now understood that Antonio Conte is weighing up a move for the 26-year old.
The Blues boss let Baba Rahman, a player in a similar position leave on loan to Schalke this summer. This has left the manager with Cesar Azpilicueta as the only senior left-back at the club at the moment.
Ola Aina, the youngster who promised a lot in the pre-season games leading to the new Premier League campaign will provide cover for Azpilicueta at the back but it is understood that Conte wants to add to this position.
The Chelsea duo who have the responsibilities of the left-back spot at the moment in the squad are both right legged and Conte reportedly wants Jonas Hector, who is a more natural left-back.
The Liverpool transfer target was one of the many impressive players for Germany in the EURO16 in France recently. He played a role in Germany’s game against Italy in the EUROs and seems to have caught the attention of the former Italian boss who wants him at Chelsea.
He is valued at £20m, which is not a price that will scare Chelsea but looking at all the failed attempts from Liverpool to sign their man, Chelsea may have to pay a bit more to land their man this summer.
However, it will be interesting to see if Hector decides to make a move just a week after signing a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit. Do you think Jonas Hector will move to Chelsea this summer?
