Chelsea loanee reveals he wants to play in Spain rather than Chelsea
Chelsea are one of the top clubs in Europe financially and they have a number of players in their books that are currently all over Europe gaining valuable experience before being thrown into the mix of the Premier League.
One such player, Charly Musonda has recently revealed his liking to the Spanish duo Real Madrid and Barcelona in an interview.
The Belgian national has had a break-through season in Spain where he won the man of the match award for a superb display in his debut game for Real Betis against Valencia.
The 19-year old moved to Spain only at the end of January but has already attracted a lot of interest from top sides in Europe.
Including the recent loss to Bilbao, Musonda has 7 games to his name in the La Liga this season and has revealed his ‘fanship’ towards Real Madrid and Barcelona and his desire to continue to play in the country.
He said, “I am happy here. My favorite clubs are in Spain. Since I was little, I`m a fan of Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
“I want to stay here. It`s in my head now,” he added
However, it remains to be seen whether the two Spanish clubs are interested in signing him and letting him develop before the move is made to purchase him.
Chelsea who are also going through an overhaul this summer may want the 19-year old back in their books but Musonda revealed that he would prefer to play in the La Liga and learn more about the game.
“We do not know what could happen next season. The future is uncertain, but it is possible that I stay next season. It`s better that I play here rather than being a back-up at Chelsea,” he added.
The English franchise are not understood to be too keen on bringing the winger back to the Premier League this early and are hoping to continue his stay at Betis or any other La Liga outfit on a two-year loan.
Musonda has surely shown that he has plenty of potential but he still has a long way to go before the best teams in Europe are fighting for him.
