After a dismal start of the season, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to reinforce his squad in January with the signing of Porto wonder kid Ruben Neves, according to HITC.
Chelsea, who won the Premer League last season convincingly with three games in hand, started the season unexpectedly poorly. With four points in five games, they have registered the worst start for Chelsea in 29 years. They are already eleven points behind title challengers, Manchester City and Jose Mourinho will be wanting a strong response from the team.
A lot of players have started the season poorly for them and among them one is midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas. His below-par display has disappointed the fans as well as the manager and Mourinho is looking add the services of the 18-year-old wonder kid to bolster his midfield.
Juventus star Paul Pogba was in the wish list of the Portuguese mastermind but securing his signature looks unlikely for the Blues as Barcelona are also monitoring the French golden boy.
Neves is only 18 and already appeared for the Porto first team 38 times so far and is rated among the best young players in the world. He can play as either a defensive midfielder and as a central midfielder and possesses everything to become a world class footballer in future.
At the age of 18, he has 51 youth caps for different youth set-ups in Portugal and is currently an under 21 international and becoming a full international is only a matter of time for him.
The Portugal Under-21 star – a runner-up at this summer’s European Championships – featured frequently last season, although he started only 17 of his 37 outings.
He possesses a good passing range and athleticism and can dictate the tempo of the game and won a lot of plaudits for his potential and attracted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid also.
