Chelsea are finding themselves in a tough position this summer after missing out on multiple transfer target. The Blues have so far welcomed only two signings in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly despite needing a lot of reinforcements. Their fierce rivals from this transfer window, FC Barcelona could turn their friends as they are willing to offer their three players to them.
Chelsea and Barcelona found themselves at crossroads a massive three times for three different players. The Blues made an unsuccessful attempt to hijack Barcelona’s deal for Robert Lewandowski, who nevertheless signed for the Catalans only. On the other hand, Barcelona did successfully snatched away Raphinha and Jules Kounde from Chelsea’s clutches.
Barcelona, Chelsea eye multiple deals to ease out tensions
According to according to The Evening Standard, Barcelona have offered Chelsea the chance to sign Frenkie de Jong, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Memphis Depay. The Catalans are in a dire need to cut down their wages and as a result have put these heavy earners on sale.
Barcelona have also acquired Andreas Christensen and Frack Kessie this summer alongside Lewandowski, Raphinha and Kounde. However, to register them they need to make sales and have put in plate De Jong, Aubameyang and Depay for Chelsea.
Frenkie de Jong has rejected a move to Manchester United, despite the club agreeing a £63 million deal with the Catalans. De Jong wants Champions League football which United cannot offer, and Chelsea have pounced on the opportunity to open talks for him with Barcelona.
Further on, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Chelsea have shortlisted Aubameyang as one of the options to reinforce their attack. Depay could follow De Jong and Aubameyang to Stamford Bridge if the Blues consider to bid for him.
On the other hand, Barcelona want full-back duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marco Alonso from Chelsea as they have already opened talks for them. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly held a meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta last month during which deals for De Jong, Azpilicueta and Alonso were discussed.
The two men have reportedly built good relations despite their tussle in the market, and are ready to trade with each other. However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will have a final say on the additions of Aubameyang and Depay to a potential transfer of Frenkie de Jong. The two club are currently holding constant talks over engineering multiple deals.
