Chelsea have braced themselves to spend big now as they have prepared a stunning bid worth £60 million for Everton’s Anthony Gordon, according to The Daily Mail. The Blues are looking to reinforce their squad which has been depleted by a number of departures this summer. They lost Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Timo Werner on permanent deals, whereas Romelu Lukaku and Malang Sarr have been loaned out.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have only brought in Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and young talents Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Gabriel Slonina so far, and hence want more additions. They are now looking to swoop in the Everton winger as well as Leicester City center-back Wesley Fofana, for whom the club has bid £70 million. The West Londoners could now complete a second and third signing in the excess of £60 million after Cucurella was welcomed for the same amount.

Chelsea ready to splash another fee £60 million on Gordon

New owner of the Blues, Todd Boehly has already crossed the £150 million mark with his investment so far in the club. Moreover, after the acquisition of Cucurella for £60 million, they now want to spend another £60m on the young Gordon. While both operate on the left wing as well, Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he wants more players and more competition.

Per earlier reports, Everton had rejected Chelsea’s initial approach for Gordon where the Blues were ready to offer them £45 million. The Toffees manager Frank Lampard has reportedly made it clear that he is unwilling to sell Gordon who has a lot of potential and importance to his side.

Nonetheless, Chelsea believe a bid in the excess of £60 million would be enough for Everton to part ways with the 21-year-old Gordon. The youngster made a breakthrough in the Toffees’ first-team after stellar displays for their U-18s, where he racked up 16 goals and 5 assists in just 31 games.

After his debut in the 2020/21 season for Everton, he then endured on a six-month loan spell at Preston North End in last year’s winter market. Gordon’s first full season with the Merseyside club during 21/22 saw him play 40 games and tally 4 goals and 3 assists. Tuchel believes Gordon could be a massive addition to his squad who has an experience of 52 Premier League appearances till now.

On the other hand, the 20/21 Champions League winners have also bid £70 million for Fofana as they need defensive reinforcements to replace Rudiger and Christensen. While the 31-year-old Koulibaly has been snapped up, Tuchel has demanded a a young defender from the Premier League. Fofana fits the bill and hence the club is pushing to sign him after agreeing personal terms.

Meanwhile, the report from The Daily Mail adds that Everton are willing to negotiate with the Blues after they have decided to spend around £60m on Gordon. Talks will now continue in the coming days as Chelsea have agreed a pay structure £50m guaranteed and another £10m in add-ons for the winger.
