Chelsea Roundup: Defender To Leave, Mata Picks Best Players In Blues Team And More

Chelsea has had a difficult start under new manager Antonio Conte as they have failed to land their targets in the summer transfer window and have faced few difficulties in the opening weeks.

However, Conte has switched the system to 3-5-2 in an attempt to make their defence more solid which has helped Blues achieve ten consecutive games in Premier League as they have demolished Manchester United 4-0 and Everton by 5-0 at Stamford Bridge and have also managed an impressive 3-1 win win away to Manchester City last season. The Blues will be hoping to continue their good form in the coming weeks as they have a genuine chance to win the Premier League this season.

Here we look at all the stories around Chelsea today.

Chelsea have announced a massive £71million loss for the year ending on June 30, 2016 as the Blues have cut short their deal with Adidas to sign a new sponsorship deal with Nike.

The club have managed a profit £4.7million before incurring losses and have had a significant rise in their annual turnover from £314.3million to £329.1million.

Former Chelsea star and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has named three players as the top performers for Chelsea as the Blues have now won ten games in a row in the Premier League.

The Blues currently are the top of the table with six points clear from their nearest rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

‘Right now Chelsea have a very important distance,’ the Spaniard told IBTimes.

‘They are winning everything, playing good or bad, because they have reached a very high level of competitiveness.

‘They are playing in a very worked way, a formation that their coach had used in Juventus for several years and is working very well here.

‘I think their players suit perfectly to that type of football. Diego Costa is at a formidable level, Hazard is also doing great… and also Cesar (Azpilicueta), who is the reliable man. They are winning every game.’

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has termed Chinese Super League as a danger to all the clubs in the world as they have the financial capacity to lure the players away from Europe and other leagues.

“The Chinese market is a danger for all,” said Conte. “Not only for Chelsea, but all the teams in the world. But I think we must concentrate on our work, not think that in China there is a lot of money and they can arrive to take the players there.

“Oscar is a really good player. I was very proud to have him in my squad and to have him as my player. I’m proud of his attitude, his commitment and his behaviour, which have been fantastic, and I have great respect for every decision made by a single player. But if you ask me: ‘Are you sorry?’ then yes, I am sorry to see him leave because a really good player, and a really good man, is leaving the club. I must be honest about this. But also I understand his decision.”

PSG midfielder Marco Verratti could be on a move amid links to Chelsea, according to his agent Donati di Campli.

The Blues are expected to make a bid for him in January as they look to get for him for less than £40 million.

‘Verratti wants to win at PSG,’ Donati Di Campli told Rai Sport in October.

‘However, if these attacks from the French media continue then Marco will evaluate his position and will probably leave Paris.’

Earlier Italian coach Ventura has also described about the frustration Verratti is feeling at PSG as new manager Emery is playing him out of his preferred playing position.

‘In Paris, Verratti is playing just behind the strikers, but it’s not the right position for him. He is a playmaker,’ said Ventura.

‘Also Verratti is not happy in PSG because he is playing in the wrong position.’

Chelsea and West Ham are in talks over the potential deal for youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek who could move on a loan to join The Hammers till the end of the season.

West Ham boss Sven Bilic is keen to sign the 20-year old only on loan as he is not going to have plenty of cash reserves to make permanent moves. Loftus-Cheek currently has a contract with Chelsea till 2021.
